#followfriday is a twitter hash word. The has word has a syntax. The hash word coupled with the syntax create the first twitter-based endorsement system for twitter.

The Syntax is: a tweet with #followfriday with @tweetist_name anywhere in tweet text.

Example:

I love the rigorouse tweets of @humancell and the insight of @drummondreed. I highly endorse them. #followfriday

This tweet produces and endorsement from the tweetist for @humancell and drummondreed.

Technically, the same result could be achieved with:

#followfriday @humancell @drummondreed

#followfriday was the brain child of Micah Baldwin.(@michah)

The topfollowfriday concept was tweeted by Jerimayah Owyang (@jowyang) of Forrester Research. Scott Lemon (@humancell) jumped on the band wagon and 72 hours later had a protoype #fridayfollow statistics engine running.
